‘Shattered Lives Campaign’

You will all have no doubt heard or read somewhere on the media lately, the HSE’s latest push on Working at Height, The United Kingdoms biggest killer in the workplace.  Do you or your employees work at height?  Do they know when they are working at height, and are they using appropriate equipment and assessment?  Do you know that more people die and njur themselves from below head height than above?

Work at Height Essentials

Do any of your staff work off any equipment above floor level, or next to any unprotected edges?  If so they are now working at height according to the Work at Height Regulations 2005.

Many of us as employees are expected as part of our jobs to carry out what we feel are low risk, low level work at height, maybe just to change a light-bulb, or hang a poster.  Since 2005 it has become necessary for our employers to ensure we are competent to carry out theses tasks and that we understand the risks involved.  Are we still allowed to use ladders and steps for maintenance, cleaning or general work?  What are podiums, pop ups, hop ups, MEWPS?

This course is about understanding the risks of working from any height, and how to select appropriate equipment in accordance with this recent legislation.

During this course, you will cover:

  • Health & Safety Legislation, general laws affected and specific work at height regulations.
  • Risk assessment of work at height, hierarchy for appropriate equipment
  • Examples of low level work at height equipment
  • Practical assessment of use of ladders and steps
